Water in Fuel warning light
The Dashboard symbol for "Water in Fuel" has lit up and is not going out
Its on my Td5 - although the instruction book does not list this warning as existing
It usually lights when deep wading through water but goes out when it dries out
Now however it is on permanently
Google search says disconnect sensor on fuel filter - but I can not see any sensor on my fuel filter (located by rear wheel)
Is this just water in electrics somewhere or should I be concerned ?

This happens on mine, normally when it is dry and been nowhere near water !

The sensor is on the bottom of the filter and is quite easy to find, follow the wires. They stopped fitting them at some point after 2001.

A lot of people do away with the sensor as they are unreliable at best.

If you can't see a sensor connected to the bottom of the filter have a look around for a plug that has no home. If you find one it is probably the culprit and full of water or mud giving the false reading.

I always ignore the warning and have had no problems so far.

Thanks Bob and Dorsetsmith
I have a dirty connector but nothing for it to connect into
No sensor on filter
So I will ignore the warning light

I stopped using super market diesel when mine came on and after a few fill ups the light went out and (touch wood) has stayed out. Adventure isn't paved!
