Here are a list of living history and military events which the SMVG Scottish Military Vehicles Group taking place 2017 .

Events Diary 2017
January 29th. SMVG Annual General Meeting. Institute Hall Bridge of Earn. Meeting starts at 2pm sharp. Refer to your official notification. There will be the usual bring and buy sale prior to the meeting and the club shop will be in attendance. A raffle will be held at the close of business with proceeds going to the Army Benevolent Fund. Donations of prizes are very welcome.
IMPORTANT! As always, if the weather looks at all doubtful contact any member of the committee for advice before setting out on a long journey.

March 4th. Scotland’s Secret Bunker, Opening Weekend. Troywood, St Andrews, Fife KY16 8QH. SMVG military vehicles required for static display. Overnight accommodation available. Contact Al Smith for further info 07704 187739. publicityofficer@scottishmvg.org

March 19th. SMVG Annual Swap Meet. Held at the Institute Hall, Bridge of Earn. 2 mins off junction 9 M90. Sale of militaria, military vehicle parts and collectables. Military vehicles and other exhibits on display. Refreshments available on site in the NAAFI. Admission 10am-4pm. Adults £1, accompanied under 16's free. May 20th&21st. BA Stores Vintage Working Weekend, Lyne of Skene, Dunecht, Aberdeenshire. Excellent military vehicle display dug into the tree line. Living history welcome. Off road course. Evening entertainment. Contact Mike Ogston for further details. alo.north@scottishmvg.org

June 4th. Fife Vintage Agricultural Machinery Club Annual Show. Kilmaron, Cupar, Fife, KY15 4PE. Cars, motorcycles, commercials and military vehicles and period re-enactors from the First World War period together with period re-enactors are being sought by The Fife Vintage Agricultural Machinery Club for their annual Farming Heritage Show being held in June 2017. They are particularly interested in sourcing timber working machinery from all periods as the focus of the 2017 show will be the Forest and timber cropping. The show will be marking the centenary of the UK Government introducing measures to boost home food production during WW1 – there will be a special WW1 exhibition which will feature dramatic re-enactments of the call up of men and horses, the creation of the Woman’s Land Army and much more. If you have a WW1 vehicle or are interested in participating as a re-enactor or with a Living History Display appropriate to the period, then give Al Smith or your local ALO a call. July 30th. The Crieff branch of Legion Scotland are requesting SMVG military vehicles to take part in an event in Crieff. What they would like is to have a few jeeps or that size of vehicle to take the old and bold who can't march. Also required are other vehicles for a static display in the towns park. August 19th & 20th. Wanted - WW2 vehicles and Home Guard re-enactors for "Defend Dunfermline WW2".
Roger Pickering of Forth Pilgrim, has been researching about the town history and made a staggering discovery about the old capital and the role of the defenses against the Axis. He discovered the roles of the local Home Guard and the Polish army in the planning of invasion defenses for the town. Not only perimeter road blocks and trenches but architectural drawings (by Polish Army Engineers in 1940) of the buildings to fortify and to develop in depth defense in the town centre. SMVG members have been invited to display their vehicles in and around Cultybraggan camp in support of the annual Doors Open Day event which will take place over Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September. Members will be welcome to attend on either or both days. The usual camping and accommodation facilities will be available from the Friday afternoon.
