It looks like LR048731 is still the latest part number for the clutch kit, can someone clarify if AP Driveline kit (the OEM producer?) is the same as that branded by Land Rover (except for the £75 markup)?

For example, see the long list of options from the below vendor (or any vendor of your choice).

https://www.lrdirect.com/LR048731-Kit-Clutch-Repair/

Also, I inquired about the upgraded version from Sachs (supposedly producer of the AB clutch), but was told they are no longer producing it for the Puma.

There is an AISIN product (KE-LR04R) available. As they produce for Toyota, there might be a chance to get a good quality for a reasonable price. Saw it for roundabout € 300,-- Thats ~ twice as much as for the AP-aquivalent.
There exists an uprated clutch as well, introduced for the "stronger" autobiography LR-Models (LR072972). Very expensive. Reasonable price from B*****rt, but they are known for their quality...

I can confirm that the latest part number gives a clutch that actually works this time, and doesn't seem to be made from chocolate. as with previous versions.

As with a recent replacement of Clutch, Slave cylinder, Pipes and Master Cylinder 4000 miles ago.

and shaft the sodding thing still rattles like an old one thats about to fall out of its arse.

it would appear that its just a made do an live with situation as I cannot see an issue as to why it is producing the idle rattle it is.

Landrover so noises are to be expected i guess.

Hi all,

I have just joined the forum, but have gleamed much helpful advise in the past as a 'guest', so many thanks to all who contribute.

I was reading this thread bout tdci clutch revisions, since I have recently purchased a 2007 tcdi 110 station wagon with 43.5K miles and there is an audible noise / rattle when the vehicle is idling. The noise disappears when the clutch is depressed and there is quite an abrupt rattle when the engine is switched off and everything comes to a halt. The previous owner was completely transparent about this development, which he claims has developed over the last few months - he told me that when he took the vehicle to the garage they suggested that the noise was probably due to compressed / damaged clutch springs.

I am interested to know if the above symptoms support the well documented 'dodgy clutch' scenario.

I was also hoping to get a handle on whether this problem was likely to get rapidly worse or whether I have a reasonable period of time in which to deal with it? - We are planning to drive down through Spain to Portugal later in the summer and I will struggle to find time to get it sorted between now and then.

Many thanks in advance for any feedback / advice.

Face the same problem. Looking at LR048731 gives a Varity of brands (LR, AP, Sachs...). Prices vary too..
Which one to go for?

Mine is showing some noise symptoms (like bells). There are also LUK and Quinton Hazell brands as well. Somewhere I read AP Driveline are not that good.

There is the HD alternative but the original LR is very, very expensive. Puma 110" SW

Hi everyone. In Russia some def owners install whole kit from ford transit to avoid rattle sound...
The kit number is 835060 VALEO.
That owners says that no rattle sound and clutch pedal is easier...

Don't anyone done this? Any comments?

Perhaps the pre-damper springs are internal. Puma 110" SW

How lose are the springs in a new clutch plate?

There was a notifyable rattle in my clutch plate that disappeared when engaged the clutch pedal.

Ordered a new clutch plate. But springs are lose too.

I filmed it. But cannot send a film to the site.

Thanks for your help.

Same here. Looking for a replacement at the moment and have NO IDEA which route should I take.

There is a Britpart kit that comes with an uprated plate & cover - no LR072972 - for 260GBP, and a "simple" kit LR048731 for half that money. You can also find Clutch Kit 2-part for LAND ROVER DEFENDER 2.4 07-on TD4 244DT Sachs Genuine LD on fleebay for 200GBP, and Ashcroft sells the AP for half of that..

Anyone have any clue what is the best route?
I would add I plan to do the remap one day so stronger clutch would be a desired option BUT the softer version of 835060 VALEO (as it was said here) is tempting too, so.. HELP Big Cry

Thumbs Up
