I think a 130 would be a bit more practical!
Or a 79 double cab.

Hi, I have 1 of these 110 6x6 ex fire engines. It is slightly longer with 3 roller shutters in each side and 1 at the rear. it is a 1995 300 TDI. its in great condition for age but some tidying up is needed to bring back to mint condition. Any info will be appreciated. i will enjoy it for a while and sell on, where is the best place to sell one of these? or am i better waiting till it turns 25 years old when it can be exported from the UK to the US?

thanks,
Ramsey

Lucky guy, that's something most of us can only dream of Thumbs Up I'm afraid I can't provide any information about them but if you contact Land Rover specialist vehicles they should be able to help you, I believe they make the genuine ones. Foley SV should also be able to help as they do 6x6 conversions. You shouldn't export it to America, every dealer and his dog tries to sell Land Rovers over 25 there, soon there will be more Land Rovers in America than the UK Mad 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

You might try Rupert Hine who lives in Crook of Devon. He has had a 101 Fire Engine/Motorsport Rescue Unit now replaced with a 66x6 Pinzgowr Ambulance/Motorsport Rescue Unit. Your motor might be of interest to someone in the Motorsport Rescue/Recovery but Rupert isn't too far south from you. I don't have his details but Steven Burton (https://www.facebook.com/Dangeroussteve?fref=ts) is a Team Member on Castle Rescue and should be able to establish contact.

Thanks all,

Charcoal thanks, I have contacted Foley & Tonks4x4 both very helpful and in the know!

JR thanks, I will try and contact the man in crook of Devon, I see you both are fairly near by!

The vehicle's v5 has been in Landrover's company name all of its life. The vehicle was built/modified for Landrover by a company called "Boughton" which I'm told they are no longer trading. Also the Land Rover chassis plate states above the chassis number "6x6 GTW 7000KG". Plus the front, centre & rear weights. There is a special vehicles plate as well which I assume was fitted to the 110 before it left Landrover special vehicles to be converted @ Boughton. In the rear there is a GODIVA pump & a COLLINS YOULDON hose reel.

For anyone who is interest

Ramsey

Broughton is indeed a very well known name in Land Rover modification circles, I didn't know they'd ceased trading but they were on the go many, many decades ago.

Again, Godiva were even on the go pre WW2 and are equally well known. Collins Gouldon I have not heard of but if LR had this built for their own long term use then I don't doubt the build spec was to the very best spec. I do seem to remember that the LR often had prototypes converted for factory uses like this and also tended to hang on to them for a good many years before 'retiring' them.

I'm not suggesting that yours has that pedigree but one guy who might be able to assist with the provenance is the owner of the Dunsfold Collection and, I think, DLR who are a Land Rover parts business down south. The Dusfold Collection is, I believe, the biggest collection of Land Rover prototypes and other rarities outside the factory in the world; so much so that many LR and RR prototypes are offered directly to them by JLR!

Might be worth a few pics of the various plates, equipment and the vehicle and the question 'what have I got?' and then blame someone else (me) if it all blows up in your face! lol I'd certainly like to come and have a nosey.....

I can't remember Boughton stretching Defenders, possibly either a Carmichael or even Simon chassis mod, taken down to Reynolds Boughton for the top hamper and bodywork.

Hosereel will be a Collins Youldon.
