Pretty sure I fitted mine with M10. Measure the 4 holes on the hitch and then measure the length from the front of the hitch to the back of the slider plate, then add 30mm. Use Nyloc nuts to secure the four bolts and use a heavy grease to cover them (or get some M10 plastic caps and put grease in them). If you need pics just shout.

Correction. .. I just measured and I used M12 to attach to the DB saddle. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

All the stuff I've attached to my slider plates I've used M16 bolts because that's the size of the hole.

Not sure I'd be happy with M10 or M12.

Four M12 bolts is fine. Use 10.9 or 12.9 grade.

Most important is ensuring they won't just pull through. When I did it I had two pieces of 10mm and 8mm plate drilled to match and put them either side of the crossmember.

^ The proof load for a (single) 8.8 Grade M12 bolt is 48900 N - approx. 4890 kgs - (and 10.9 Grade is 70000 N), so four bolts sure must be enough to pull the sankey? ... Cheers, Vincent

Sure, but why engineer when you can over-engineer? Razz

I was fitting it for different purposes:

Biggest that will fit through the holes. So M16 I believe. 8.8 at least.
