I'm guessing the front axle must have used the tracta type 80" front axle CV joints to give smooth steering on tight corners.

As far as I know the front axle was standard at the time of manufacture, so conventional Hardy Spicer universals. It may not have been at all pleasant to drive, and when laden there must have been very little traction.

As a piece of LR history though it is awesome.

Sold for an impressive £5101.50 !

This strongly suggests that whoever has bought it knows exactly what it is and values it accordingly. I look forward to seeing it restored (or recreated) at some time in the future.

Just incase anyone wondered about it fate, it was brought by a chap in the Series 1 Club.

It's coming on in leaps and bounds, great it went to someone who is actually doing it justice, and not break it to make a quick buck.
Thumbs Up

Excellent news in deed that it has gone to such a good home, and it sounds as though the fellow in question will do an outstanding job. I look forward to seeing it in the fullness of time.
