Thanks, On my next visit I'd like to visit Mount Augustus and have been told that it's best to do it in a 4x4.

Hi Java. Plenty of Toyo camper vans for hire across Oz but be careful to note every little scratch or defect before driving out of the yard as they will charge the earth to fix things they can blame on someone..... anyone.
They rarely provide any rescue gear either although the roads into Mt Augusta are all good gravel and you can travel many places throughout Oz without getting bogged or needing assistance.
Drive to the conditions and enjoy your trip.

PS. The standard of driving shown by those we term "Fritz in a Britz" is something to behold and be very wary of as they race around determined to see everything in a fortnight. Laughing
