All Defenders in principle are like yours Pickles, so with separate side lights. Only those with SVX, ICE, Fire, Raw, etc. style fronts have the sidelights integrated in the 7" main headlamp, and have the turn signal in the place of where your sidelight is located, and have at the lower outside of the lights cluster a 90mm aux high beam lamp.
Eric

Probably overkill, but here are two pictures showing the two set ups.

Standard front with separate position lights on the upper outside.

SVX (here a local ICE) front set up with integrated position lights, and with turnsignal on the upper outside and the 90mm aux high beam driving lamps on the bottom outsides.

Seems you have some interest to upgrade your standard "candles" to LED? Each to his own of course, but my personal preference with the standard set up like yours would be to not connect the sidelights of the new LED headlamps (if you buy a set that comes with a integrated sidelight function), but I would replace your standard filament bulb yellowish sidelights by a good quality crispy white set of standard model LED sidelights. Plenty of posts about that here. If you do that, you keep the standard function and look (I personally think two sets of sidelights, and then different shaped, looks odd), but hey, each to their own of course, and you will have about the same crispy white colour in both your new LED headlamps, and in your new original looking LED sidelights.
Now, the (cheaper) alternative for you to get a good light upgrade is to replace your standard fishbowls with the WIPAC clear cristal lamps, plus better quality halogen bulbs (even available from your LR dealer themselves), plus the upgraded Dutch Landreiziger headlights loom which will steer the full 14.4V to your lamps, and which will also avoid that your light switch one day will melt. And then you can leave your filament sidelights as is too. Thumbs Up
Leaving your sidelights, turn signals front and back, as well as your tail/stop lights just original is certainly no problem for you even if they are not perfectly water proof Rolling Eyes , given that you get much more sun than rain down under. Cool
If you go for LED headlights, below is a picture of the Trucklite standard front set up (borrowed from TomekW) with the standard sidelights and turn signals also replaced by a LED version. I believe in Aussie the Trucklites are the most widespread and readily available, yes?

You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Thanks eric, so I'd want the items without the integrated "side lights"?
Thanks, Pickles.

Your choices for Noldens, Pickles are:

1) Clear chrome Noldens without position lights. Simple plug and play with the H4 connector

2) Clear chrome, dark chrome or matt black with position lights

If you want a coloured Nolden it will have to be with position lights

However you have choices

a) Do not connect the position lights up. The position lights plug comes with a sealed insert which you can leave in

b) Connect the position lights into the existing side light circuits. Having two sets of position/parking/side lights is legal.

Hi Guys!

So im fairly new to this forum and this is the first groupbuy i've registered for.

I would really like to get a pair of Nolden LED Hedlights, the chrome ones but i don't really understand how this group buy works.

Would someone be so kind to explain this to me?

I found a guy in the Netherlands (where im from) who can deliver a set with the hight adjusters and mounting trim for € 950,-

but i already have the hight adjusters on my 90 so i only need the Headlights by it's self.

So... HOW DO I GET THEM?

thanks a lot guys!

GR, Rick

Hi Rick,

Group buys are in theory relatively simple. A group buy is just as name says a group of people agreeing to buy the same item at the same time at a reduced price. The trader can offer a reduced price as they may be able to negotiate a better price with their supplier.

Now in the case of Noldens our agreement is that we stick to the right hand drive, left hand traffic, I.e. UK type traffic. We can not help our European friends directly. May I suggest you contact Nakatanenga in Germany for European style Noldens? They are site sponsors as well and have a very large range of lights.

Hope that helps

Brendan

Oke this is clear to me now, thanks!

so what is the difference between UK and european lights? is it that the (for me, here in the netherlands) light flair raises up on the right side of the road to illuminate more of the area next to the road? or do these light have the exact same light flair and is it just some UK/Europe certificate for insurance purposes or something?

Thanks a lot!

We drive on the other side of the road, so our kick up is on the other side Thumbs Up

They're all built to the same standard, on that note you're looking for the E marking which Noldens and other good headlights have, cheaper ones don't.

Basically plug and play. Just screws drivers to undo indicator, side light etc.

A bit of string is useful, tied to sidelight, indicator wiring loom. Makes them easier to fish out if they go into the wing, especially if you have fat fingers!

As long as you do not touch the adjustment screws extremely straight forward.
