Not a Defender, but still impresssive is the crossing of the Empty Quarter Desert with a stock RR Sport. Stock as in Dubai terms of course: with a V8, so some nice sounds, but also beautiful images. They did add a skidplate, but that was all apparently.

Nice film - surprised it didn't have a roll cage - but couldn't see one - they seemed to be really motoring at times. I wonder how many miles they covered?

Dubai plates but noticed a British tax disc also.

Other point is that raptor is no ordinary f150 to start with. The raptor is a complete beast. Bigger engine and drtivetrain plus properr suspension. Fox iirc

That's the point of having a model range isn't it?

What's your point? I'd make an educated guess that LR won't be dropping a v8 petrol supercharged engine or high end fox shocks into the new defender anytime soon. I just don't see LR having the balls or market to make it work. Ford make an f150 every 40 s or something crazy. #1 vehicle in us etc.

The utility market is dead as a door!nail!for lr. It will be a high value highj margin family "adventure" vehicle for the upper middle class. Likely starting at 30k and going upto 60k with all the extras. I'd guess it will be closer to a d3 in terms of an analogous vehicle. I'd bet they go big on extras and personalisation as well. We already know the 2017 discovery is going further upmarket than the d4 and they need a vehicle to take its place in effect.

8 year warranty as standard with no exclusions. You'd know then that they were sure of the quality of components and assembly of the vehicle. Mr. Green 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

^ Thanks for the link to the Baja video, great to watch it.
That is quite an achievement to finish at the first attempt. Very Happy

Somehow I can't see our favourite 4x4 brand getting involved in anything like that these days.
It wouldn't promote the 'Premium' image.

They could always do what they did with the first 2 Disco 2 off the production line, a round the world trip, seen here (very briefly at 48 seconds, 51 seconds and 1:02)

Personally I think this one is better. Though Dave should have cleaned his mirrors before setting off
