Cargo Barrier options for 08 Defender

I'm after a cargo barrier for the Puma. My Tdi Defender has a Milford barrier and both my Disco's had the Milford fitted (the first one saving our lives).

I can't get a Milford as they aren't making anything for the Puma Crying or Very sad So this leaves me with few options in Australia. The LR unit LR006447 is also not imported, but looking at it and how it installs it would fit the bill for what I expect from a cargo barrier.

Has anyone got one?

Are they as sturdy a construction as they look?

I have the cargo barrier fitted to mine.

seems pretty solid and secure. minor downer is the mounting brackets rivet to the skin so i now have a row of unpainted rivets.

i havent had chance to play to much but it looks as though the barrier itself comes out reasonably simply - more on that next week when i try

Thanks.

Looking at the fitting instructions (via this link) it doesn't have any rivets. Is your's an earlier Defender to 2007 model Confused

No its an 2008 Defender and the line of rivets was on both this one and on the previous (rejected - long story) 2008 defender. so unless my dealers had a proper moment (as if ha) or were talking 2 different barriers im confident its riveted.

( if its not let me know and i will demand corrective work)

I have the pukka cargo / dog guard fitted to mine but don't recall there being any rivets involved.

yep those are the ones - Id assumed as they werent painted they had been replaced to install structure.

If they are all ways unpainted this would appear to be something ive failed to spot, despite owning the damn things for years.

Yep they are unpainted. I was told that was only on the Australian models, but never looked closely at the UK ones to see if they were too.

What's a Pukka Cargo / Dog Guard?

The rivets you are refering to are left unpaited during the build process. The panel that they hold on is the last to be fitted. All panells are sprayed, hung on a rack and built onto the vehicle, then that small panel is riveted on. Thumbs Up

My pleasure Thumbs Up

Most of the problems Ive had were to do with transmission noise. It has led to being on gearbox 4 and transfer box 2. The problem seemed to be solved though by changing the clutch, again. Clutch number 4 has made all the difference. No ratling in low box first and reverse and generally a lot smoother to drive. Just back from Morocco, 5.5K miles and no real problems, and she performed very well in all conditions, sand, floods, rocks.

It did go into Riders for a few bits, leak on rear dif and rear casing of transfer box, and loose prop shaft bolts. Also had some vibration but that was sorted with £10 spent on wheel balancing.

Hopefully all will be well from now on, have done 26K miles and looking forwards to the next 26K trouble free.

Optimistic or what ?

Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter Big Cry
