My boss has a story from one of his overland trips when they couldn't get the wheelnuts undone. So they got a bit of pipe on the wheel brace and still couldn't. They resorted to driving the Land Rover with the wheel brace on to shock it off. He said they made a bit of a dent in the ground, but it worked. |

Ive had to drive around the yard (HARD) with no wheel nuts attached to break the rust seal between hub and wheel on a truck,perhaps a bit or maintenance from time to time. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

A light smear of copperslip on the rear face of a wheel before you put it on - helps make changing a wheel a much easier exercise. It looks a fairly standard procedure at quality workshops with a focus on customer service. Like jimbob7 I've witnessed some 'alternative' approaches to wheel removal over the years. |

Really thinking about going to some Satin black Wolfs and MTR's for the winter months... what the thoughts compared to the twisted 18's??

Unless you drive only in DEEP snow don't go MTs got ATs or winter tyres. Much better control, braking and road holding with winter tyres but that's another thread! Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Need to decide on paint or powder coat, thinking satin black. |

So the wheels arrived a couple of weeks ago and questioning whether they need painting at all. The primer looks good as is. So should I get them painted or leave as is..?

I don't think they last very long if they're direct from LR, I suspect if you don't paint them now, you will need to in 12 months.
I saw a black set of wolfs on a 90 at the factory the other day, I didn't know they did them as an option in black! |

If I were you I'd paint them. It's only a primer they put on the metal. It will soon corrode. 2002 110 TD5 White

Primer is porous so yes they will need painting Ray
