Bouncing Boost Gauge Needle
Hi,
I've installed a boost gauge on my 300tdi engine.
The pressure for the gauge is taken just after wastegate actuator Tee piece as referred.
@ idle, while the vehicle is stationary, the needle is bouncing around zero value.
Is this bouncing normal?
Somewhere I've seen a message saying negative (vacuum) values shall be read at idle on these tdi engines, is that correct?
Cheers.
Senol

I had the same problem with my old TDi.

The pressure inside the manifold fluctuates at a very fast rate and produces a wobbly needle that makes accurate reading impossible.

There is a little device that can be connected in line with the pressure hose - sadly I can't recall what it is called! It allows boost pressure to reach the guage, but it stabilises the pressure so the needle is slower to react to changes. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

There shouldn't be a vacuum detected in the inlet manifold. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

When I fitted a boost gauge I had exactly the same problem, wobbly needle.
I got the little tube off a WD40 can and put that inside the pipe to the gauge and then tied it really tight with a tie wrap to make sure the air had to go through the little tube. The result was a dead steady needle Smile The doctors said it's OK to listen to the voices, just not to do what they tell me!
