Auxiliary Fusebox Mounting Advice

Hi all, I'm hoping someone with more brains than me has come up with a solution to my problem.

I currently have an additional Fusebox located next to the battery under the seat, but would like to fit a 2nd battery and hence there would be no room.

On my old 90 I just fitted it behind the passenger seat on the bulkhead - here the only place I can see on my 110 utility is to put it at the side of the back door. Not a major issue but means a lot of expensive large cable initially and long runs of smaller cable to the front for switches etc.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

I put mine in the driver's seat box, leaving space for the future additional battery in the passenger's seat box.

I have made an "under cubbybox" where all additional electrics, relays and fuses live. As a bonus the armrest is now at the correct height. Cheers, Vincent

I have a 2.4 with twin odyssey pc1500's - a genuine bluesea 6 or 12 way will fit on top of batteries, bluesea copies wont

I have just put some pictures in my Gallery.

Under the driver's seat (LHD vehicle) there is a second battery with VSR (Cyrix Voltage Sensitive Relay) and Cetex battery charger (the Webasto Air Heater lives under the passenger seat). The additional relays in the under cubbybox are connected to the auxilliary battery via the main switch. There is also a Timer Module for the heated windscreen and two extra sockets at the back of the box. At the front of the cubbybox the 7" screen for a dual camera setup (front and rear) is mounted.
Still some room for more toys left ...

To all,

I can't thank you enough for your ideas

I really like the idea of putting it under the cubby, although I will probably make my own frame etc. I also love the idea of re-locating the existing electronics there from under the drivers seat for a bit of added comfort when wading.

I'll add some pics hopefully when I make a start

There are various choices with a dual battery setup

1) Fit on top of battery clamping bar. Please note for this application you are better off with the slimmer Blue Sea fuse box rather then some of the other makes available. Space can bt tight so be careful with height of battery/fuse box combination.

2) Fit in drivers box. Best done with a right angle brackets which we can help with.

3) Fit inside cubby box

4) A Nakatanenga under cubby box safe. Would need various extra holes drilling in for cable access

5) A GMB electrical box fits under cubby box. This is designed as an electrical box. Box has prepared holes for cables which you just punch out and fit a grommet too. Can get internal dividers etc A purpose designed electrical box.

HI,
I fitted my fusebox (in fact, the same box!) exactly as TJ101 under the drivers seat. Works really well and managed to run cables using flexible conduit where needed.
