Greenlaning in France
For our holiday we had acquired some roadbooks for greenlaning in France. Due to bad weather we decided not to venture on our own into the forests, so we only completed three roadbooks of the planned five.

France is a real greenlaning paradise. Lovely pastures in the north, rocky roads in the south, dusty forest roads in the southwest, muddy tracks in the center.

I made a video. The bits with the muffled sound are made with the GoPro, which doesn't record sound very well when it is in it's watertight box.

Take a hacksaw with you, as not many people have driven there since the roadbook came out, which was 10 years ago or so. Many branches hanging over the tracks, wich can damage your paint (I didn't mind that...). Also some muddy places. No problem in summertime, but likely a problem during autumn, winter and spring. So a winch or at least one other vehicle can be helpful.

Otherwise, a very rewarding roadbook. Randoland roadbooks are, in my opinion, among the best there are. Very clear maps with many visual reference points and coördinates. Only very minor mistakes.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Tillerman Smile

I have a winch and mud tyres - and will take a saw.

I've a few of those books - I'm looking forward to it all the more now.

newbie question...
...but what is the best way to go about greenlaning in France and acquiring the roadblocks mentioned in this thread? I tried the randoland site and it only offers groups trips. Thanks
This area would be great but also interested in the Pyrenées. Cheers

Randoland roadbooks are published in different French 4x4 magazines. I bought a Land-Mag magazine with a superb roadbook in it. So best thing to do is go to France, search a kiosk and look for offroad magazines. There are quite a number of them, as the French are avid offroaders.
