I got the second coat of Tekaloid wet flatted and the third and final coat on. The rear tub is now complete!

I gave the paint on the tub a final wet flatting with 1500 grit wet and dry and then machine polished it with Chemical Guys V36. Here it is part way through polishing:

It is. Supplied by Crisswell's Garage (1944) Ltd in Newmarket to a farm in Bury St. Edmunds in 1960 where it lived until 2001.

They aren't unfortunately. Looks like they ceased trading in 1973 and I believe the premises is now a Harley Davidson dealership.

I learned a little more about the history of my battered old truck yesterday with the reply from the DVLA to my V888 request for information about a vehicle.

It has confirmed that it has two previous owners. The first owner was a cereal farmer in Hesset, West Suffolk. Less than 40 miles from my home. It was first registered on the 27 September 1960 and this seems correct with it being a 1961 model year. The second owner, from whom I bought the vehicle lived in Sudbury, Suffolk and acquired it in October 2001. From a little Googling, I can see that the farm is now a small housing development and all of this makes some sense of the previous owner buying the vehicle from the sale of farm assets.

I have copies of the registration documents back to a continuation log book and applications to transfer a vehicle registration mark. The current registration number YSL199 was assigned in October 2001 by the Ipswich local DVLA office just before the vehicle was sold by the first owner. The previous registration number BLM210 was transferred from a 1977 Ford in 1982 by the first owner. The registration number on the recipient vehicle, the Land Rover was PGV616.

PGV616 is the registration number recorded on the continuation log book and I assume the original registration number as the area code GV was assigned to the Ipswich office for West Suffolk registrations. By co-incidence the first car that I owned after passing my test at 17 had a GV registration number!

PGV616 where are you now?

I've just filled in the paper work to get my old reg back on my 80"
I've been told there is a good chance i will get it, which is great news Smile 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
