Then I'd go 265s as it's road use ATs. 285s are heavier and make the car just that bit more sluggish. You don't need the extra ride hight as well as I think it's bad for stability in corners. 285s always look a bit too big to me, unless the car is lifted and has wide eyebrows, but I like it more with a standard tweaked look then an excessive tweaked to be different look.

PS I just speak from experience with 235s and 255s which I translate to your question, so a person with true experience will probably give a more correct view. I personaly don't know anybody with R18s anyway.

I just bought 4 tyres at £540 which were Cooper ST/T 265/75 R16's from AJS tyres who are advertised here on this site. That was fitted and balanced. They are big Land rover supporters and can help you with most things. A all round very good company.

I've fitted 285 BFG all terrains on 16 inch Black Sawtooths with 30 mm spacers and Gwyn Lewis's mud flap extenders, no issues and looks great, did consider about 18 inch but at the time was told they were not rated for a 110. Any 18 looks good but I was still looking at 285's, nice to fill the arches without going past them, a BIG no no to extend arches here, I think they look ridiculous and spoil the look of any Defender

The below two links take you to tyre size comparison pages

From these you can work out the affect of changing the tyre sizes, gives you different rolling circumference, affect on your speedo and the physical difference in size (Dia)

Hi, this is the best picture I currently have, if your looking to fill the arches out and have a better looking stance then go with the 285.

ATS euromaster were £123 each when I bought 265s recently. Online price was cheaper than the shop price. Snapped them up Smile
