Report from Saturday great weather and with no joy with V8 thought i would tinker with interior

Report from Sunday
It lives  the V8 after alot of coaxing (fresh battery, snap on jump back and a slow battery starter/charger) nearly burning through a new starter motor and a mate of mines mechanical expertise after about 30 mins of churning she finally coughed into life she now starts like an old 200tdi first turn of the key.
Sounds awesome as there is manifolds but no exhausts, have a few more things to do it until i can run it properly though, alternator bracket vibrates and moves around quite a bit as engines turns over, worried it might fire the belt off, plus need to install collant bottle, buy some various pipes, hoses etc. bleed system properly and then i should be able to run her properly. Will take a video and post it somehow no idea how to do it.... But will work something out For me project has turned a real corner and i have a new found motivation for it, still a shed load of axle and chassis work to do before i drive it in anger though Thanks for reading hope to post some more stuff very soon  |

I think i have managed to upload a small video to you tube
 nearly took as long to work it out as it did to get V8 going
Hopefully it works only a taster of whats to come, four branch manifold and y piece exhaust only at this stage, no centre or rear box. Will post a few more videos as build progresses, dont be expecting any edited masterpieces though

Shaggy and Mk1 thanks for the comments it is great to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
With the longer nights i hope to make some good progress over next month or so

Not much to update as i am currently waiting for a mate of mine who has a workshop to get a 2 or 3 day window when he is not flat out to throw 130 on his ramp.
The plan for when it is on ramp is to do the following Rear diff Rear half shafts and flanges Handbrake Drum assembley Rear prop shaft Fabricate exhaust joiner piece Fabricate transfer box levers Check serviceable items brakes bushes etc. Oh yeh and if i have time brush down chassis and waxoyl I have purchased a couple of items since last update not particularly exciting but an improvement. I was always going to do away with Land Rover fan as i dont feel that they were particularly good and as we know V8s like to run hot. So have gone down the electric fan route Two electric fans in place Click image to enlarge Thermostat is to be wired in but as you can see is in top radiator hose this will control the two fans and is temperature adjustable Click image to enlarge As always thanks for your interest and comments hope to have more updates soon |

Thanks Chris yes got brackets sorted and tub now sitting where it should be.
Trying to make my mind up whether to keep eye out for decent second hand tub or refurbish the one i have. Plenty of stuff to do before that though. |

I'm going to try and sit down tonight and start my own thread. My 130 is in a similar state to yours and the list of bits that need doing keeps growing.

This will not sound like anything major but managed to drive 130 under its own power for the first time about 10 m forward and 10m back
This is the first time in over 5 years that this 130 has moved under its own power so although 10m may seem minor for me and the 130 this is a major milestone
Also managed to plumb and test power steerin, wired up electric fans and thermostat and ran engine up to operating temperature with fans kicking in and out as they should. Again first time ran to temperature. Hand brake assembley fitted only to find i have wrong cable as its to short. Other than that a sucessfull days work 1993 Defender 110 Ex Military soft top, with a long wishlist already |
