Possibly out of luck.......
Well, now on Td5 number 7, with a combined travelled milage of well in excess of a million miles with no major faults whatsoever on any of them, I may have a case of the dreaded fuel dilution..........oil sample going off tomorrow, let's see what the lab report comes back like Sad

Only a very slight rise and I always work off oil samples. It costs me nothing and I can see the wear rates then and decided if further investigation is required. Its the diesel engineer in me, I can't help it Thumbs Up

Fuel dilution has to be really bad for it to be detected by smell

2001 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Epsom Green
I had similar on my 2001 90 Td5. With yours being the later 15p engine its less likeley you have a cracked cylinder head. I have a 10p Big Cry

However 2,000 miles *touch wood, and the oil level isnt rising and doesn't smell diesely, so that's a promising sign, that the injector seals have done the trick!!

Mr. Green 2001 Td5 CSW (weekend and snow mobile) Plenty of lights, M/T tyres EGR delete, roofrack, swing away wheel carrier, snorkel.

I'll get the crack detector out and give it a thorough check as I usually do. I'd strongly recommend sampling your oil if you have any suspicion. I deal with lots of cases of fuel dilution every year on various different types of engine and I can tell you now by the time you can smell it it's bad !!
