Nanocom vs Scangauge II vs Ultragauge

Hi guys!

After several years using my ODBII + Android app I think it is our to put a dedicated ODB2 reading system in the Defender.

I know that this matter has been discussed before several times. But still have some doubts

Nanocon cost a lot more than Scangauge II and UltraGauge (USD 500 vs 150 USD) but Im not sure if I need all the additional functions that it have (reading/write ECU, handle the alarm, ABS, etc).

On the other hand I'm not sure if Scangauge or Ultragauge can save some raw data for further analysis as my actual system using Torque do (appears that Nanocom can do that but Im not 100% sure).

Any other dedicated system in the market that can do that?

A point to remember when looking into these types of tools is that the clue is in the name, scan gauge and Ultra gauge. These are gauge tools monitoring the relevant PCM sensor addresses that each tool has addresses for. The Nanocom, MSV2, Hawkeye, GAP Diagnostic etc etc are diagnostic tools which allow, depending on model complete access to all the modules on the Puma including the ability to write new settings ie: Key Plip learn, Pilot correction and fuel pump learn etc. Some of the tools will display live data and allow you to save the readings to go over at your leisure so there is a big gap in capability between a gauge tool and a dedicated diagnostic tool. Just one question arise to me:
Are Scangauge or Ultra Gauge able to store raw datas or just show it?

It just displays the raw data from the sensor address.

A Nanocom can do that. Roel

The other obvious factor is mounting it - the scan gauge can be very neatly mounted as a permanent instrument.

Whereas the Nanocom is more realistically something to use on a temporary basis - particularly as leaving it in your car can pose a security risk.
