Good value speakers?
Got a td5 90 CSW with standard speakers front and rear and an aftermarket pioneer head unit. I'm planning to add an active sub at some point but for now id like to simply upgrade the standard LR speakers. Reading other threads I believe they are 4" front and rear?

The sound quality is pretty poor and tinny and I mostly listen to rock/metal so would ideally like to get some speakers with decent mid and certainly more bass. The rear has standard enclosures and the fronts are mounted as standard on the bolt on aircon unit. The question I have is there are any recommendations that won't break the bank for front and rear where I can keep the standard housings? Not sure if there is much room behind the rear enclosures or behind the speakers in the aircon so not sure if I need speakers that are particularly slim too?

Thanks all!

They are 10cm on the Puma but as far as I'm aware they are also on the TD5 too.

Have a look at these: http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kfc-e1065-speakers

They are good value and have a fairly low frequency response down to 45Hz which will improve the bass response and mid range. Thumbs Up

I went with Steve's recommendation when i did similar Thumbs Up

I fitted those in the front and disconnected my tweeters [Too tinny]

Also, you can buy the kfc-e 1365 [The 5" version] for the rear, they fit with only minor trimming of the standard speaker housing - dead easy and even better sound

sound is MUCH improved, not up to sub standards, but far more bass than before Cool Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Thumbs Up I might be tempted myself one day, my current speakers are good quality but the frequency response is higher hence less bass.

Everyone wants more bass. Whistle

Exactly what i did. Difference is most noticeable, much nicer sound.
But i also disconnected the dashtop tweeters .. the tinny'ness of those cancelled out the improvement in bass ... sounds much better without them Thumbs Up Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.
