Hey, Pete, pickles,

did you not see the site rules? You can only be a member of the forum as long as you let the English win at cricket Big Cry

Yep, were desperate

Welcome Pete

Cheers mate...

I have lost FAR too much on FAR too many a bet over the cricket!!!

Living as a OZ in the UK for 30 years... kept my head down! Now that I am back in OZ, well our boyz results say it all!!! Laughing

I wonder how many OZ Defender owners are 'British'... may well ask that question on the local forum!

Anyway, pleased to be on this forum... despite the cricket!

Cheers, Pete Smile YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Hi Avion8,

By coincidence I have a caterham 7 at the moment (which will have to be sold to help pay for the heritage) which has a heated screen which is excellent as the 7 doesn't have any other way of clearing the screen. I had a 7 in the 1980's as well which did not have a heated screen and after lots of experimentation I found the best way of keeping the screen clear was with an unused tampon!! I always wondered why people gave me odd looks when they saw me carrying one.....
Rye is a great place to live, if you are ever over in this part of the world again let me know and I'll take you on a tour of the local highlights. (mainly pubs!)

Hi Vintagepaul, That is a coincidence & I did enjoy my Super 7 at the time, - don't think I could get into it now Sad . Laughed at your tampon fix, I used a raw potato cut in half & smeared on both sides of the windscreen, worked quite well to stop the mist build up. Also agree with you about Rye being a good place to live & we loved the pubs especially the Mermaid Inn, although the wife would not stay there due to ghostly rumours! We will definitely be back for the 2018 LR 70th anniversary celebrations. Looking for a Defender Dormobile for that trip! Cheers Nigel

A 90 Adventure on order! Always fancied a Defender, and now seems my last chance for a new one at least!

Placed an order on day 1 when news first released. Dealer still unable to confirm my spec and colour?? Have others had any further info..???

Can you collect from the factory with these? Be nice to tie-in a heritage tour...

Dan

Hi Dans,

I asked for a factory collection for mine. I had the same thought as you. But alas, the dealer said no. Big Cry

i didnt wanna risk not getting a 90, so i bought one which was dealer specced, which luckily came exactly how i wanted, with no extras bar sunroof lol.

Anyone had any updates on their orders or build dates?

I confirmed my spec last week. Not sure how many other Orange adv's they'll be...??

Haven't driven a Defender for years. Not expecting much has changed, and am sure it won't be as luxurious as my 14MY Disco, but that's not what I've got it for! I am looking forward to some days out off-roading with my young lads though...

Pickles - are you really surprised? What dealers say and the reality of what they have available are usually poles apart.

I'd expect anyone who really wanted that type of defender would have visited Twisted or the like and got exactly what they wanted. For the money the Autobiography is just not that special enough.

Agreed in part...

BUT, a specific 'Celebration Series' Defender is obviously totally different to a 'Twisted' Defender that can be specced and made at any time... so nothing factory historical about them.

It is my understanding that the 'Heritage' series of the 'Celebration' editions were all sold within 2 days of being released... thats 400 of a really special edition that can of course also be 'replicated' by 'Twisted' or any other company... I would imagine that an even more limited edition 'Autobiography' would of course be more unique... if not quite a bit more expensive on release from JLR... Having said that, have a look how expensive some of the similar specced 'Twisted' models are...

For me, I would prefer to spec that kind of sheck on an 'original'... even if this for me is hypothetical!

All good stuff however! Smile

Cheers,

Pete. YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Just signed up to this forum after searching for more info regarding these cars. I've been lucky enough to secure a 90 SW Heritage, but haven't heard anything for a while from the dealer, although they did say to expect that. Hopefully more info will be available soon. Mr. Green
