South Africa 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Manual Alpine White
sump

Just had a call from my friendly dealer to advise me that I should bring in my Defender ASAP for a new sump. Very Happy

"Oh, didn't your service adviser tell you last week that all Fenders were having new sumps fitted?" - no, they never tell me anything Lady, I have to squeeze anything out of them like blood from a stone. Wink

And I get a free oil change Mr. Green
I am going to leave my new oil filter on the front dashboard and see if the mechanic will change it without asking.

done

Well, the sump has now been replaced and the buggers had the cheek to charge me ZAR269 just to fit my filter cartridge which I left on the dash with a note to the mechanic asking him to fit it for me.

Some more advice needed - when following my wife home I noticed the car is smoking (black) quite a bit now even when warm. She was not even pushing it hard (we never do) and I swear it never did that before when I followed behind.

Is it possible that the water I found in the fuel filter was a little too late and the injectors or fuel pump are knackered.
Can anyone tell me what symptoms came from water in fuel.
I did a proper measurement of the sample and found 46cc of water. The service bulletin I read somewhere mentioned 40cc as being a problem.
Thanks Guys

After I had all the mods done to mine when there was water in the tank it smoked for about a week then cleared. I dont do many miles so I would think yours should clear pretty quickly. If it does not then take it back.
