Hi Everyone

I have a late 2007 Defender, it now has 23000km on the clock. When I coast on a downhill at anything above 110km/h there is a very clear drone iminating from the rear of the vehicle, it has been there since new.

I have had my rear diff replaced under waranty(yesterday) but the noise remains.

Does anybody know what the noise may be? Help woul be appreciated, I have heard of at least one other vehicle with the same problem but no diagnoses, perhaps someone here has had the problem and diagnosed it.

Rear Diff again I expect. I had one replaced and it lasted about 20 miles. When your previous diff was replaced did the dealer clean out all the contaminated oil if not then rumble goes the next one.

I suspect the diff too, the dealer recons the diff is fine that the vehicle has a "drooling" sound, new term for me, he says that a panel is making contact with some mechanical component and this is the cause of the noise, I'm not buying it?
