Has anyone seen (or fabricated) an iPod Dock where the phone or iPod could sit/get charged/wired to Head Unit?
I suppose the default setup is a loose cable floating around in the Cubby / Dash or similar. It's just that I'd rather have the device staying in one place and the cable out of sight. If anyone has any ideas or pictures they could post up, that would be good. Thanks in advance  |

I've got a Brodit one, highly recommend it.
For my iPhone 6, at least, they do an adjustable holder which allows an iPhone cable to be attached to it so you don't have to plug it in, simply drop it into the dock. they also do mounting solutions for most cars including defenders. Use the phone/car matcher tool on their website here: http://www.brodit.com/brodit.html?pn=home I bought the thing itself from here: http://www.drivesafeandlegal.co.uk/brodit/...514666.htm (brood don't sell directly) note that you need two parts: a car mount and the phone holder. sorry to double post but this is what I'm on about - the phone holder bit. Very well designed as you can replace the cable if you need.

if your USB port is on the back of the radio (inside dash) then maybe you could run a cable up out of the central ash tray area, or maybe near the windscreen

I fitted a glove box and ran the connectivity cables for my head unit through a cable gland into the glove box itself. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Started with one of these at £1.78
Basically, threw away the white case and used the connectors. Click image to enlarge Butchered to fit with aid of magic Glue Gun! Click image to enlarge iPod Dock now fitted to space between cup holders in cubby. The cable comes out underneath and currently connects to the front USB of the Head Unit. It works with the old iPod or an iPhone 4 so I'm happy enough. Next plan is to modify the Head Unit (Pioneer MVH-270DAB) to have a USB socket at the rear, so I can leave the iPod cable permanently fitted and keep it tidy. Amazed at how little there is "inside the box"!!! Click image to enlarge It would have been nice if I could've bought a ready-modified "iPod Dock" Cubby Box.....just sayin'.....
