Your not wrong there Kmac.

Yes the tentipi says you can get 9 in when packed like sardines but with 2 large camp beds and a table in there, there is enough room for:
1. store gear under the beds
2. low level table
3. The stove box (come table
4. Room to store a couple of large oztent chairs
5. Wood for burning

And it still leaves room for entering and sitting on the floor Thumbs Up

I will admit though that shutting the tent is interesting in the wet Whistle

Oh and with all the vents and mozie nets the tentipi keeps cool in the summer Russell

I have used bell tents in the past which do give more room for the footprint however I have not seen the range of sizes.

I had a RV4 with extension set and made the mistake of selling it a few years back. For our needs it was excellent; quick to put up, great all round headroom, sturdy and still left space on our 110 rack. I have heard more recent versions are made in China where the quality of the zips especially is inferior to earlier models. It is big and heavy though but expect you would not lose much when re-selling it as rare beasts to find second hand.

Anyone got one to sell!! Smile

Love ours, we use a roof box to pack everything in including tent and bedding as dogs seem to have taken over rear of DC Thumbs Up

I have an RV5 with the sides, front and fly sheet. It's a really good tent, although I was slightly unimpressed with the quality of stitching on some of the fabric loops for holding pegs. They tore off the main tent sadly.

As others have said, although easy to erect, these tents are bloody big when packed away. RV5 is about 20kg and 7 or 8 foot long..

I started 2014 with a rooftent and tufftrek awning,
roof tent - brill, easy up, comfy, cool through the summer, and warm in the autumn. great investment.
however the awning was not quite upto my standard, (returned and refunded no problem) so we purchased a RV5 from brendan. we now have a choice, up or down. the awning is being replaced with a Oztent foxwing from Brendan in march.
Speak to Brendan, He is helpful, friendly, loads of knowledge gained from using the gear he sell's, and he is not pushy...
due to the rooftent, we couldnt carry the RV5 on the roofrack, so i made a carrying system,
I have used it at 80mph and off road, and so far no problems, and it doesnt stick out further than the mirrors.

I have a Campmor Safari which is great. Thanks to Greeni I also get two Oztent King Goanna stretchers in there with plenty of space between and storage underneath...

If you search for Campmor there's a couple of threads on here somewhere too.

Hammock and if the weather is inclement, a Bivvie bag or if pushing the boat out for luxury, a Basha. Cheap, easy to erect, lightweight and can fit into your cubby box.

And if Ray Mears uses one, what else do you need? I mean, look how happy he is about it:

Hi it's the F25 jet tent complete with side infills and front
Big enough for 4 and with the front enclosed good communal area and with the wind break and side awning great set up
Easy to put up not sure I'd agree with the 30 second bulb but very good and without front add ons quick overnighter
Thumbs Up It's good to be back from the dark side
