I think they are very competent but won't be spending any of my money on one.

Chile 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
An Old friend!

Was plenty of Ladas Niva here in Chile 15-20 years ago mostly used by the foresters in the field.
Very capable vehicle but with some design glitchs that ruin the motor if you run it in a slope for too much time (at least the first models that appear here). Also corroded faster than a Defender.

Nowadays are a piece of museum.

Cheers Eduardo

I ran a couple of Niva's alongside Land Rovers 30+ years ago. Capable yes, could be a bit harsh if the transfer box mount shims were not right. Bit cramped with fragile plastic interiors and limited load space. Rust like it was going out of fashion. Cheap and cheerful. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic.
