I've got a couple of Tenmas (Farnell own brand), one autoranging and one an autoranging AC/DC clamp meter.
I've got a Uni-T non-auto ranging one which I've had a bit longer and a slightly higher end meter. I think Tenma and Uni-T both rebrand the same OEM, just one's orange and the other is red. At work we have loads of the little cheapo (72-7770, they're about £5) Tenma ones round the place, so you're never very far from one. A few others but they get the bulk of the work. CPC often have them on special offer. They're perfectly adequate but you do have to treat them as disposable, a replacement set of leads costs as much as a new meter. We do use them a lot and they do us fine. |

I have an old Fluke from the mid eighties I think. It still works only needs a new big 10 amp fuse. Roel

Unit ut 50 Had it for years great bit of kit. Along with a tpi inductive amps clamp.
Just starting to get the hang of a pico scope. But I do love to see some one with a really expensive fluke, snap on or power probe working away. And have no idea of how to even test for a voltage drop. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

What a great selection of meters you guys are using...
An excellent range from old to new, cheap to enormously expensive... Old favourites included too, thanks to those who have indulged me, especially those who have troubled to include images too... I've a fluke 187. Its an excellent meter but I've worn out the voltage terminals.
Today the UPS man brought me a new set which I'll fit over the Christmas break. http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/ |

Fluke 233 for me, removable display can be handy for some of the more awkward locations. Great quality too.

The Fluke 233 looks to be a very useful and flexible bit of kit, as well as having the renowned Fluke quality...
But they are rather expensive for occasional use, and they don't come in Green... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

Fluke gets my vote too, I've dropped mine on countless occasions and still works perfect.
My brother works in laboratory analytical repairs and swears by fluke, for QC they get theirs calibrated yearly, his has never needed any corrections and used almost daily for a couple of years. I've had draper but don't like the quality, I also have a PowerProbe, which I find brilliant also. |

I'm looking into some kind of auto osciloscope next, if anyone has any suggestions.
Not sure if I need to get as fancy as the top end pico gear. Anyone use the handheld fluke ones ? |
