Arriving Sad at a destination :(
Is it just me or does anyone else get to there destination and feel sad they have arrived?

Driving home this evening I found myself dreading getting home, not for anything at home but because I know my journey will have come to an end and I would have to stop driving.

I could happily spend hours and hours and hours driving my 110.

Just me?

Now if only I could find a weekend driving job..... Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I start my journeys sad too....
My wife has decided my Landy is just what she has always wanted and has taken it off to work for three weeks!!

Has left me with her 'left over' SLK to drive around in Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

All I could think of to say was, 'Yes, you take the Landy you'll have fun and be much safer if the weather turns bad....

Just remember the more you drive it the more likely a breakdown will happen.
That'll make you more depressed. Laughing

Not necessarily, I'm a firm believer that vehicles that sit and do nothing deteriorate and have much more issues than vehicles that gets used and serviced regularly.

But yes obviously things will wear out quicker when used more. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

My 90 has just come back after nearly a week at the dealers for some warranty bits.

They gave me a 2.2 diesel Jag XF. Although a lovely quick car, so boring to drive. I couldn't wait to jump in the defender again this evening

This man speaks the truth.

I think it's far harsher to let a car sit for ages, only doing a few thousand miles a year, than to do a big mileage. I do a fair amount in mine (30k+ p/a) and while the 6,000 mile services certainly come round mighty quickly generally it's fairly reliable. Certainly far more so than when I only used to use it at weekends.

I find the defender on long runs a pain in the ass. I did a 150 mile round trip last week and couldn't wait to get out of it. The following day i took the FFRR to work.
The next day i was back in the defender. i do about 25K a year in three cars i love the defender for all my local trips and when its Snowing.
I couldn't live with it on long runs every day though.

Thumbs Up

490km tomorrow and about 350km the day after. Love every minute in the car, but always glad when I'm back home with the family. Yeah yeah, I'm soft... Cool

Each time I get to drive the 90 it's like being in a sports car and I absolutely love it it just hunkers down and goes and it corners on rails too. Cool This being said I agree that letting them sit for ages is not good for them in terms of maintaining cost per mile covered this last year has been very expensive.

This is what happens when you have a jimny as your daily driver. Sad Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.
