As much as i would love to put a £4/500 pre built draw unit in the rear of the 110 that just aint gonna happen!.
been happy running around with boot full of junk but things have changed!. this little fella has come into our lives  Click image to enlarge two boys will be approx 12st when little one is grown up and lots of junk to store Click image to enlarge so current set up is junk in back, 6 stone lab on front seat then relegated to middle row on the rare occasion swmbo traveled in the 110. this aint gonna work with two 6 stone labs!!! so i want a veeeeery cheap way of creating a flat platform in the back with room underneath to store junk. i was thinking 2 angle irons attached to top /side of wheel boxes and an 18inch peace of birch ply!! would that support the weight of 2 hefty labs? would i be better with 25mm ply? could i get away with alloy angle?? best way to fasten angle bar to wheel boxes?? any advice welcome My 109 thread my youtube channel |

I have mine decked out with 22mm T&G flooring which just sits on top of the wheel boxes. All my tools (I'm a joiner) sit on top and all the junk underneath. The beauty of this is I can take a strip of the floorboarding out if and when needed. Cheep solution and it's ample strong enough.

simple way is two small bits of alloy angle bolt along edge of seat box/arch (vertical edge ) get some old bed slats and cut to width of gap between the arches , rivet/bolt alloy angle so top of slat is level with top of arch
if you leave a gap ( don't need to be big gaps ) in between each slat , then staple two strips of old seat belt along them joining the slats up , this way the slats can removed easily and folded back to back making then store easy away (you need to test how get a gap you need to allow folding ) then just a bit of foam on top for comfort covering the whole area alloy angle only has to be max 20mm wide , so doesn't get in the way or stickout to much , and cut slats to near perfect fit in between arches and they wont move about |

I have two labs and the only problem I can see with building a platform is that when your dogs get older it is a long way for them to jump into the back, our older one struggles now and when they are wet and dirty it is no fun giving her a hand in. If that platform was even higher she would not manage at all. I do have a ramp I can use but she does not like it at all.

Tailgate on mine so generally no issues for animals to jump in, BUT if you have a tailgate do take steps to ensure that the gap between the tailgate and the rear body is covered due to the risk of a canine leg slipping down the gap with possible disastrous consequences.

thanks guys some good advice there
Jayaway, one of my big concerns too! my 7 year old has a cartilage condition his front leg already he can jump in no probs but i hold his weight on a harness as he jumps out so as to take the impact out of the landing. Im also going to leave a 12 inch gap at the door so they dont need to jump from the floor to the shelf. My 109 thread my youtube channel |

I've got Buffalo board in the back of my 90 for the creatures to lay on I have 3 English Springers and a German Shepherd. The boards are about 23 inches deep so that I can manhandle them and or stack one on top of tuther if I need to carry something bulky. The dogs have a large canvas bed to lay on and I have room for tools underneath.

Have the same problem my lab is too old to jump in and I cannot pick him up so I'm after a ramp, for him not me !

Full fat, not wishing to hijack the post, this is the ramp I have for my 15 year old Lab , he is about 35 kg

Blackwolf - what have you done for this? I have the same issue and thought of a hinged piece of ply to bridge the gap but wondered if there was a simpler or more effective solution? |

I can sent you pictures next weekend when I get home as I have a similar ramp, my young one (9) can still jump a 5 bar gate but the older one(12) will go up the ramp but she needs a lead on and we take a runner at it, it is good for her coming down though as she is a little heavy and jumping out of a defender does there joints no good. 2.2 2012 110 utility Orkney Grey Also Range Rover Evoque - Surprising but I like it.
