A bar spotlight wiring kit help...
Hello knowledgable peeps.
Having just bought an A bar for my 90 ( puma) with Lightforces to go on to it, I have searched and googled all the variables for wiring them up, but.....

I am electrically inept, give me spanners, and actual things to remove, fit , modify, no problem.
Electrics though are another matter, I just don't get it Embarassed Shocked

Is there a recommend source, for a complete wiring kit, all the various bits needed, pre connected to relays etc, that just requires me to fit/route it etc ( ideally with instructions ) .
I have searched the bay of E and bolt on bits do some kits, but their feedback , for these and other items is shockingly bad Laughing so will give them a miss.
Are there any traders who do a decent kit, or any users on here that make up and supply such things.
Failing that is the Landrover supplied kit/loom my best bet?

I have this fitted to my Puma, everything you need in a box with Dutch instructions.

Can you work from a wiring diagram?

Why not get Lightforce's own kit. A bit expensive, but you know it's going to do the job plus it will have all the correct thickness of cables, size of relay, fuse, etc....

Thanks all for the replies , the Dutch kit looks good and comprehensive , and I know it probably is pretty simple , the removal of bits and routing of wired , fitting switchesis no problem, it is just things like relays with multiple spades and the like that confuse me Embarassed
I would like it to come on with the mains on the stalk but also have a switch to isolate/turn them on independently.
I can follow diagrams and the like providing it has simpleton pointers , rather than electickery technical terms Laughing
The bulbs I think are 75w in a pair of 140's.
Though I may convert them to hid at some point.

I completely empathise with your concerns. I'm capable with a spanner (and not bad with a crimp tool), but have this fear of routing the wires and connecting everything up properly. Took me ages to install my aux fuse box, just because I wanted to be really, really careful and do it properly. Spot lamps are next on the list. Whilst there are some wonderful wiring diagrams and photos on this forum, some kind of practical YouTube video would be an absolute godsend? Defender Puma 2.2 XS 90

The Lightforce kit wasn't long enough when I had mine done...

Had to get the official Land Rover one

Just spend fifty quid and get someone to do it for you. Do the time v stress v quality consideration. I am eually eleco inept...hemce i spent fifty quid. Job done properly with the right connections and right relays etc etc etc thats less than half a tank of fuel or five packs of fags or five bottles of wine or a meal out for two. Simples.

Thanks for the replies again Thumbs Up and the link to the Landrover instructions Very Happy

Being honest I would , if I knew someone local and that I could trust to do a tidy job, pay to have it done.
Though as with most things in life, if you want it doing "just so" then I know that will mean it's down to me, even if there is some sort of trial and error involved Embarassed

Having looked at the landy instructions, they take the cable underneath and not through the bulkhead into the cabin, but the more obvious/direct route to the battery box.
Is this the best and most common approach, I can't see it being an issue provided they are secured properly and out of harms way.
I guess if I didn't bother with an interupt switch it would be even easier, but it seems most people go with the interior switch rather than just mains beam activated.
I will try and work out what cable type is needed and what relays and fuses etc, though this is where my brain starts getting frazzled as I don't as mentioned, really understand amps/current/draw etc Shocked Embarassed Laughing

Also double check that the Land Rover connections fit the Lightforces if you get the LR wiring kit. From memory there may have been a bit of Heath Robinson adapting on mine!

Because I live on a small rock, does anyone know where I can source the LR wiring kit via t'interweb? Local dealer is about as useful as the proverbial chocolate teapot, but 5 times the price.... Defender Puma 2.2 XS 90

It sells for about £250. The Landreiziger kit is less than £100 delivered, admittedly it does not come in a Landrover box but it does do exactly the same job. :whistle:
