puma remap
I've recently had my defender tdci mapped. And i've noticed that black smoke appears when I first put my foot down not a lot but quite noticeable. Is this normal?? Thanks...

Hi Lee

Who did the map ?

Is it a 2.2 or 2.4 ?

I have just had my 2.2 mapped by Pete at BAS and have no black smoke issues.
It sounds like an over fueling problem to me.

As Bob mentions above, over fueling.

A local garage and it's a 2009 2.4 tdci. Lots more power and runs fine just the smoke. Thanks

2008 2.4 Puma, Alive re-map, loads of power, no black smoke. As before sounds like over fueling.

Another for overfuelling...... Thumbs Up

You didn't really answer Bob's question......

When you say 'Local Garage' can you be a little more precise? If you want a comprehensive answer you will need to supply more information. If it was a Land Rover package I presume it was an Autologic map? If so they are now outdated in my view and experience and I got shot of mine and replaced it with one of our sponsors maps. If it was just a 'dodgy deal' done by some grease monkey in a dirty back street shed placing a black box resistor type to fool the fuel rail into thinking it is under-pressurising you cannot expect anything else but black smoke..... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!
