Ive had a few Impreza's
a 2000 Turbo a WRX Standard STI GB 270 RB 320 which was ace. I loved them until my local Subaru dealer closed due to lack of people buying the new Impreza hatch back due to the fact they stopped rallying them. I had one of these as my Sunday car and a Defender for every day. The way its going I'm hoping for a last edition 90 for my Sunday car if there any good  |

Been in just a impreza wrx (non sti)2005 it was good. I love the look of these rare beasts (2500 for japan only!)

I've had 5 Subarus since July 1981, they are brilliant cars. Series 1 1800 dual range pick up
Series 2 pick up Subaru Hatchback Legacy Turbo 4 door and the best: one of the 1st 35 Impreza Turbos to come into the UK. Had it nearly 9 years till a lorry driver fell asleep at the wheel when I was stationary, he did this: Click image to enlarge I cried, this was my 'retirement' present to myself when I sold my farm. |

A friend of mine has a black STi one. Great car but he went and drilled a hole in the centre of the roof for his Amateur radio, sacriledge for any car!

I really liked all the Subaru's I've had, a couple of 1800 pick-ups, an 1800 Legacy Estate and the best which was a 2,2 Legacy estate that was a bit of a rarity as they were really done for the American market, non turbo but was one hell of a good engine. I was a little cheesed off when the OH traded it in just before a long caravan holiday as she thought that it might have become unreliable with the milage on the clock, we bought it second hand and put close on 50K in four years and it went 30 miles short of going over 200K, not bad for a then 6 year old motor! The consolation was going to a V8 Disco 1 GS that was allready gas converted and LPG was 25ppl

I bought one of the last 2.0 Wrx's from new and have only just sold it after 8 years, had only done 24k. If you think the
Defender is uncomfortable and noisy then the WRX is a pretty good match. Great fun if you don't drive it very far, ultra low profile tyres and rock hard suspension give it a flat angle through corners and a back braking ride. Absolutely no soundproofing and more transmission whine than a series Land Rover. Glad I went there but never again. |

I've had a 2003 WRX (Blobeye) and a 2008 WRX STi (Hawkeye), both of which were really good cars, but obviously built to be as lightweight as possible, with a serious lack of sound deadening.
I also had a Mitsubishi Evo VIII at the same time as the WRX, which was altogether in a very different league! Extremely precise controls, with razor sharp handling to match. The engine hated being below 2500rpm, but above this it was a tremendous adrenalin rush! lol The WRX Impreza was a very good all rounder, with comfy seats and forgiving suspension. Even the mother in law thought it was nice to drive, with its 'very light steering'. The WRX STi I had, had the 2.5L 300hp engine, which I'd decatted, fitted a bailey BOV, and put the RB320 map on. This was still tame, and a lot more flexible & forgiving in comparison to the Evo, even though it would throw out a huge flame when lifting off the throttle, due to the dump valve of course. 
Happy days, but my current Diesel Mercedes has more midrange than the scooby's, is quieter, more comfortable, has far less of a drinking problem, but still eats the corners when required!  |

I've had a Scooby Hawkeye (last of the proper shapes) and an Evo. They are similar but different, if you get my drift. They are incredibly capable cars, and if you can get past the image created by both cheaper owners and narrow minded non owners, they are fantastic to drive.
One word of caution. They are not a relaxing drive. They urge you to go quickly and they can flatter poor driving until it's too late - by then you are travelling at silly speed and it's a trip through the undergrowth to visit the trees. |

I will second that as my last one was only too happy to be going sideways, don't get me wrong it was eminently controllable on and beyond the limit of grip but it was a rally car and loved being treated as one. Private land and closed roads only, never on the public road, as I believe in being responsible. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Top picture I believe is an import t the second picture is a P1. I've had a few, Inc a WR1 an RB320. Would consider my year 2000 classic with pristine goodies the best one |
