I though that the sump thing only efected LHD vehicles. Is it RHD as well??

Their are a couple of thread re the sumps,,

Can not see how it can be only a LHD problem,, engine/box/axle etc all in the same place on RHD/LHD

After a quick call to LR Customer services, (after a smug comment from the local dealer saying that they would not change the sump, whatsoever !! Shocked ) mine was change with no hassle

I don't know where I got the LHD thing form but I think it was on one of the other forums.

There are a few geometary changes for LHD agaisnt RHD - think about the steering etc - from memory the kit on each side is switched.

Hi there!

Just to confirm that the oil pan problem affects both LHD and RHD and there are two Service Action Bulletins Q049-UK and Q049-EX regarding the pan change.

How I can post a PDF file here?

There are 3 bulletins that are related to the engine oil pan. 2 are common for the RHD and LHD and one is specific for RHD or LHD

ok my comments

they have fitted a revised clutch to my one which has been ok now for over a week
a new 2008 gearbox which replaced my 12 thousand mile 07 one that all so seems to have worked

so after 14 months of owner ship - 4 months its been off the road in the dealers its working now i hope

shame as i only have 10 months left to keep it now Rolling with laughter

Hello all!

Very Happy

Too picky? I'd say no, not really.

As a new owner (Sept 2008) I recently took part in a thread on another forum (see below). Overall it's interesting to hear what others have been through. We all know how things can be at dealers and we've learned to work though it, but are there are worrying issues with Land Rover that are virtually unheard of with other leading manufacturers? Seems that way.

I quite agree with you that we have the defenders to work with .We use ares every day with a trailer on the back
try and get a replacement vehicle with a tow bar. Ares should of gone in this morning again but we start work at 7.00am there time is 8.30am if you are lucky, no one pays are down time from work as we are self employed.
