Just Bought a Disco rear Axle
Hi guys

I have bought and collected a discovery rear axle today person I bought it off said it is off a 3.9 V8 disco and it has the 300tdi style drive flange and the wires and sensors for the A.B.S. and as mine is a ( 1988 ) and doesn't have A.B.S. am I ok to just cut the wiring as close as I can to the sensors or do I need to remove the sensors altogether and if I buy or use my original 200tdi style drive flange off my original axle will I need a space between the drive flange and diff Confused

My old 200tdi / series 2 / coil sprung bitsa had an ABS front axle, just had the sensor wires cut off short and everything else worked as it should, I assume the rear is the same.

if I remember right the sensors just push in ,so when you got discs and hubs off if your rebuilding it just knock the sensors out

bit different then the front axle as they a wet sensor so you need to leave the sensor in or plug the hole , rears are dry just push in and there's a pick up ring on the back of disc you can leave off as well

Are right thanks for that, hopefully getting all the bits to re-build the disco axle and my front defender axle the front axle will be done whilst axle is on the car then when the disco axle is done we will swap the disco axle over Smile Graham

Note been on for a while ( internet problems ) anyway re-furbed the front axle last saturday inc new BP Teflon swivel kits, new CV joints, wheel bearings and new disc's and pads plus replaced my clutch master and slave cylinder as the slave cylinder was leaking then today me and son did a minor refurb on the disco rear axle we bought a couple of weeks ago and replaced the wheel bearings plus seals, and replaced the caliper's and disc's aswell then we gave it a lick of paint, so once we get the A frame ball joint, prop flang, and brake pipes made up we can fit it hopefully next month Very Happy Graham

Just continue with pictures. I have the same idea for our 130 - out with the salisbury, in with rover axle from D1, with Aschroft locker and 1:3,8 HD gears. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile
