Guess the ride height!

Want to improve both the handling and stance of my 90. No disrespect to the likes of Urban Truck, but from the photos off there website, the 2" lowering kit they offer is a bit lower than I want. Thinking more along the lines of Alives 1" kit. Really like the ride height of the 90 shown in this photo. It looks lowered to me, but not as much as the Urban Trucks. Anyone else think it may be a 1" drop?!!

I'd say that's lowered more than an inch.

I dropped mine by an inch last week, and still have 3" of gap between the top of the tyre [235/85x16] and the wheel-arch lip .. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

That looks the same as mine (which is urban truck) - they actually only lower the front 2 inches and the rear 1.5 to ensure it sits level.

I agree with 666, mines an urban version & looks the same (but didn't know back end was "only" dropped 1.5ins)

Thanks all for your replys. However thats really thrown a spanner in the works! I had convinced myself that it was a 1" drop and that was what I was going for!!

Likeomg - your defender is spot on, what size tyres are you running?

Anyone with a 2" drop got a side in shot as comparison?

I raised a similar question a week or so ago.
Yes, I thought 2" was a bit much for me, also a few comments were made that a 2" drop would cause a transmission "vibration", requiring a "different driveshaft"?
So yes, there are a few variables here, I will be interested to see which way you go. What about shocks?...Will you go Bilstein B6?

Just to add a little more confusion.....It can be deceiving. Those wheels are bigger than 16" which gives the appearance of being lower. Also what year is the vehicle if it's an early XS it be shod with 'HD' suspension which meant it had a 1" lift over standard. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Right, I've bitten the bullet and decided to go with the Alive 1" drop sport springs. Fortunately a kind member on the forum had a set of nearly new ones which he has agreed to sell to me. To go with these I have got a set of Bilstein B6 dampers, and I'm just about to order the Alive rear anti roll bar to finish it off. I will update the thread once it has all arrived and I have fitted!

Only thing I have left out for now is the steering damper - should I change this to Bilstein as well or will it not make much difference?!

Thats Correct … The picture is identical you our setup.

Still gives good clearance . some picture angles may make it appear different but its about the same.

You are very welcome to visit if you want to see it in person.
