130 Camper/motor home...Which Diesel?
Morning guys,

I'm thinking a130 Camper/motor home would be ideal for weekends away in the British summer!!!!....But Which Diesel?

I'm thinking the train weight of a camper and (I forgot to say) a trailer with an 80" on would be about 6T.

In reality would a L-R diesel cope or should I think of a Japanese / even American diesel?

Hi Andy, we had a 130 Defender, it had an Isuzu 3.9 deisl in,
went like a train, and would have no problem towing 6t. are 130 weight was approx 3 and a hafe fully loaded, we whent around Morocco mostly of road also no roads, only got stuck once and that was my fault not the truck. Live Life Ti'l You Die

Andy

Not sure if this helps, but the Defender Centre in Stourbridge is currently selling demobbed Australian Army Perenties with big Isuzu diesel engines. Might fit the bill.

Perenties run the 3.9 Isuzu 4cyl diesel that was probably in roamingman. They are mated to a 4 speed LT77 R/Rover manual gearbox.

The Td5 engine is perfectly capable of pulling what you want, as is the 2.4tdci transit engine. Just invest in a BAS remap Thumbs Up My 130 has a BAS remap and it will pull up a heft hill on a dual carriageway at 70 in 6th and not lose any power. New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info
