 that's steep, I know when they were Crow Engineering they were very reasonable, suppose the rates charged by independents will increase relative to the extortionate labour rates the main dealers charge

I'm sure one of the mechanics who used to work there has started working for himself. I'll make a call or two tomorrow and find out . Have you thought about posting on the Scottish Land Rover Owners Club forum see if anyone has a Nanocom or hawkeye? I've got my hands on a diagnostic machine and this is the codes that came up - Who can decipher this, I know the waste gate code here don't apply as the defender doesn't have a sensor there, and the driver demand stuff are the pedals. It's the first 4 and the last one I'm needing explained.

IIRC from my Disco days, there were two components that stopped the engine from firing up. One is the cps, and the other was the throttle potentiometer.
Feel free to call me a knob and correct me........... ......... or just call me a knob. It wasn't me! |

Asking someone more resposable! Could it have anything to do with the "fuel cut of switch" somewhere down the line?

I think if this was mine I'd pull the plugs off the ECU and make sure there's no water in there. I've never done it myself but I'd be tempted to remove the ECU from the driver's seat box and remove the top cover to let it dry out, if you think water got in there. It seems a little suspect that this problem happened right around the time the seatbox got wet, especially if you can start the pump by jumping wires otherwise. This link shows the cover removal: http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Injector_harness.html Before things start to get expensive I'd try some basics too -- clean the grounds to the frame and bulkhead, and maybe jump start it to see if it's a low voltage issue. From what I've read briefly the driver demand codes are the throttle, although it could be coming from either a faulty ECU or the throttle itself. But the fact it's an on-off issue sounds like a dodgy ECU... found these links which could perhaps help. Speaking to a few of the fitters at work and elsewhere,your really best off with a specific LR diagnostics, their experience shows Snap on to be not as "reliable" as the rest, Testbook, Autologic, even the domestic diagnostics are better than Snap on,Hawkeye,Nanocom, I have the Br*tpart Lynx which was developed with Omitec who wrote LR's Testbook and can't fault it. Also Snap on use generic fault codes,which doesn't always help. A quick Google of Autologic diagnostic in Scotland throws up a few results.
If you need a new fuel pump,these claim to be OEM, VDO pumps,I've no experience of them so cant qualify their claims.But £400 cheaper than LR it has to be worth looking into. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111185943290?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |
