I'm feeling quite lucky. 3 years and 44k kms only the wiper mechanism, rear c/locking and mud flaps needed attention. Everything else that was 'wrong' with it turned out to be my paranoid imagination Embarassed

Mine is just coming up to 2 years and just over 18k.

It has had the following done:
New Clutch and Slave Cylinder
Rear Crank Oil Seal
Gaskets for Upper and lower sump and Front timing casing
New Steering box
Oil cooler (engine) plus coolant hoses
Intercooler Turbo Hoses (Twice including latest recall)
Dash Vent
Headlight Switch/Stalk
ECU refitted

I think I totaled 30 days in the dealers since January. In for annual service next week.

yes it can be a worry. Drove mine home from the dealer in the afternoon, and was flat bedded the next morning. They had it for two weeks then I got it back for a week. Then flat bedded again and lost for 5 weeks. Tuff way to enjoy a new car which was my work car as well. Still I was loaned a Freelander 2 which I became quite fond of, and being brand new I showed some respect, but being a tradie I still needed to get all my junk around the place.

When you start to hear these type of stories I am not surprised they want to kill off Defender in its current form. Robots tend not to make the same mistakes a humans. Just weather us humans, or old school lovers will accept the new robot built Defender. I'd assume it will be robot built, as the discussion in this thread is a reality no CEO can't ignore. Od this is, even some of the Freelancers and Disco's I have had a loaners have generated a systems problem dash light occasionally. My Defender and travels

So my 2.2 90 HT has reached 20k this month and I'd like to say it's been trouble-free, but I would be lying!

Replaced and repaired so far:
EGR
Rear callipers
PAS pump & belt tensioner
Clutch
Gearbox selector bushes
Gear stick and selector
Windscreen seal
Bulkhead seal
Coolant pressure cap
Swivel sea
Handbrake cable tensioner
Door seals
Window mechanism
Door locks

Plus of course the obligatory intercooler pipe recalls and ECU updates!

Suspect the next item will be DPF related given the current issues and wondering what the next 20k will bring!

Current DPF issues?

Did he say standard 2,2tdci?
Standard as in...just safety upgrades, or standard as in 'racing' standard?

Edit: And that's what happens when you type before googling... http://www.bowlermotorsport.com/motorsport/defender-challenge/

Very impressive!

27k and my faults
One brakelight rear, one bearing seal rear right, front seat foam came apart.

Nothing else. Has been almost bulletproof Wink. Love this car. http://www.defender2.net/gallery/index.php?cat=13451

Crickey, that list is too long. Best of luck with the next 20k, Plodster. That being said, I think Toyota is doing a good deal on Hilux's at the moment Very Happy - Andrew -

Australia 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Chawton White
After a few years on non-Land Rover ownership I am now back in a low kilometre 2013 110 station wagon. My previous 2007 Defender had the following replaced in 52,000km:
Clutch at 20,000km.
Transfer case output seal.
EGR valve 50,000km.

My new (used) Defender had 8500km on it when I purchased it over the weekend. Drove it 1000km home that day in which time it would not start after filling up with fuel half way through the trip. On the 4th attempt if fired up so I moved it away from the bowser. After parking for a few minutes, same problem. I think it is either starter or more likely an anti-theft problem / glitch. It is also now leaking from the front differential pinion seal. All I can do is smile! Is that wrong?

One bonus is that all panels are aligned very well and no dents in the panels other than the normal unevenness. I have adjusted all the doors so they now shut without having to slam them to close. I am surprised that the 2.2 seems way noisier than my old 2.4. Maybe that is just my imagination. I thought it was meant to be quieter.

The dealer rang me to see how I got on with the trip home and I mentioned the few issues I had. The response was "that is what the warranty is for" Rolling with laughter

My two cents...

Land Rover 110 HCPU MY2012, currently at 18000 km -not many of them on bituman.

-Unidentified rattle from passenger door from delivery (been back twice and 'fixed' under warranty)
