New Camping/Caravan Site App
When we were touring Australia we used a great little app - Wikicamps Australia - to find campsites and caravan parks. The App is a Wiki, so is dependant on users contributing by providing reviews, adding facilities info, photos and also adding new sites. It links to your phone / tablet GPS and map apps so you can check sites close to where you are / want to be and also get turn by turn navigation.

I just found that a UK version is now available on the App Store for just 69p. It is pre-loaded with lots of camp sites but needs more people to buy it and get wiki-ing so that becomes a better and more useful tool.

PS. I'm in no way linked to this app in a commercial sense - I just think it is brilliant ! Thumbs Up Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Sounds a good app.
But I use the UK campsite web which sounds similar but is absolutely massive, has all the Uk campsites listed, and has hundreds of thousands of user reviews and all the information about the sites you could wish for.

Yes, I've used ukcampsites loads before but it is web based, not an app and the mapping is not connected to your phone.

The wikicamps app has much better searching, more end user functionality, and integrates with your existing phone mapping and navigation. It is much better for trip planning, in particular if you are touring. The symbols showing what facilities sites have are better, with the wiki facility of the user (ie the camper) to add things.

When I was using it in Oz, I kept thinking how much better ukcampsites would work if it had the option of using it as this type of app. But it doesn't and now wikicamps has launched in the UK so that's that really.

Ukcampsites is good, but having used the wiki app alternative I know which one I prefer!

Not dissing ukcampsites at all - but offering an alternative concept! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/
