Around Australia in a 110 2.2
we had a fantastic trip around australia (btw we used the HT110 2.2) and apart from some little extras dual battery, extra diesel tanks, fridge, and bed in the back. it was all original factory fittings. suspension and all, we had no problems. Very Happy
(just to show Land Rovers can be reliable)

We made it in this months edition august issue 9 / 2014 of LRO Magazine

Well that makes at least three Defender 2 forum users who have shipped their Defenders to Australia and had very little issues.

Rob, your big problem now will be getting rid of the sand out of your vehicle. Razz Yes am still finding red sand in ours!

Now then Rob, get your finger out and start putting some of your photos up on here.

Might encourage some other Defender 2 users to go and explore Australia Thumbs Up

I will buy that issue - always love stories about travel in Oz.
I would like to say that I still have red bulldust on my mountain bike after cycling up the Mawson trail from Adelaide to Flinders Range, but the mountain bike gets cleaned a bit more thoroughly compared to my Land Rover.

Don't usually buy any of the mags but will buy this one to compare notes, you might say!

We did our 15k miles with a td5 auto 90 - and no major probs.

It is on it's way back at the monent (ie. somewhere at sea) and as Brendan has reminded us, full of red dust! So looking forward to having it back, but not so much the cleaning Wink

landyrob - did you write a blog as well? We've found ours to be a brilliant way of remembering the trip, and is fantastic to look back through now we are back and getting on with our normal lives! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Nice pictures of a nice trip.
We traveled from Perth to Darwin in 2001 with two hired 110 300 Tdi's. Videos: https://vimeo.com/user874416/videos/sort:a...:thumbnail

Wat did you do to get your vehicle clean enough to get it into Oz? They are quite fobic about bacteria, insects and dust particles from other countries, I understood.
We might ship our own Defender there in a container one time, so I'm interested in how you did get your car clean enough. Just the steam cleaner?

Tillerman.

well we gave it a proper wash down that means up on the lift and get in every corner if you can.
the quarantine officer put his hand up near the inside of the mudflaps and checked. The even looked at the cooler in the front radiator for flys etc.
so i suggest give it your best shot, take your time and ask someone to check your cleaning for dirt, they will find something you have missed... Very Happy Very Happy inside has to be clean too and no soft WOOD
oh and last but not least when you load into container make sure it is clean before you drive in, i had to give ours a proper sweep before i drove the spotless landy in... good luck LANDROVER Defender Best 4 x 4 x Far
