Electronic question

morning all

I ve just bought my self a 2011 my 90 2.4 with a few issues but that's in progress !

On looking thru your very helpful and informative site I just wanted to know if my defender has a body control module (bcm) or some kind of master CAN ecu or gateway module if it does have a CAN system (I assume engine ecu abs ecu instrument cluster have there own network) and if so how many channels does it have and data transfer speeds does anyone know the pin out of the pin out of the obd socket or do normal protocols apply if so ive got that one covered,

Second question I work on fiat commercial vehicles, in the ducato 250 model van we have the 2.2 puma engine in euro 4 emmissions spec no dpf front wheel drive does any one know if the wiring diagrams for fiat Visteon ecu will transpose over to the defender, fiat system is CAN high 500 kbits per second CAN low 50 kbits per second (a bit slow I know) and it has all the same problems with injectors egr etc.

thanks martin

Also does it have pollen filter and where does it live. enclosed picky of new toy

The Puma uses 11 bit CAN protocol over a 500k bus.
Only the IPAC and EMS are on the CAN network.
There is no BCM.
The Wabco ABS and Alarm (10AS)modules use serial links (Analogue) to communicate with the IPAC.
The pin out on the OBDII socket is the industry standard.
There is no pollen filter,
Wiring diagrams as well as workshop manuals are available on this forum if you do a search.
The Visteon wiring diagram you are after? Is it the pins out or the circuit board diagram? Both of which are on here somewhere IIRC. Thumbs Up

10as and MY2013 Defender
My my2013 defender have recently developed a fault on the alarm system, the interior lights come on when nogotiating uneven terain and the Alarm triggers sporadically when armed. i believe it to be a wiring issue though the vehicle only has 3k on the clock. i connected the Faultmate MSV 2 to the car, but it does not seem to be able to find the 10AS any idees?

Sounds to me like a door sensor or bonnet sensor is at fault, if it's going off randomly when armed check the bonnet sensor, in the summer the metal will contract and expand due to scattered cloud turning the sun on and off like a hair dryer... simple way to test the bonnet sensor is to unplug it and leave it..

although I don't think opening the bonnet turns on interior lights?

I had a similar problem - interior light stayed on and alarm not happy. It was just a metal tab not pushing a door switch enough. Just bent the tab a bit more - easy fix.

Thanks! I found the problem on the front passenger door, could not bend the Tab as it is to thick, had to make a spacer.
