Demountable camper
Hiya does any one on here have any experience of having a demountable camper on the back of a 110 or a 130dc?
My wife keeps bending my ear about another motorhome and selling the tin tent. I don't want to go back down the
route of a dedicated motorhome again I know that a demountable is going to be a compromise on space, but at least I can
drop it off and drive away and the Landy will be an every day vehicle. I am going to need a double cab as I have 4 dogs 3 Springer Spaniel's and a GSD. I don't want to go back to a Japanese 4x4 I know that they are comfortable, quiet and possibly more frugal but they have no soul except for an early Land cruiser or a troopie..

I haven't had one but have looked into this, and a Hicap double cab gives you more choice and a better spec of demount.

Thanks TJ101 we have just had a look at the link for the Demounter and that is a well specked piece of kit. I wonder how much the truck sold for? Maybe a bit more than I can afford.
I have a couple of days holiday to take in the next few weeks so I'll give Niche Marketing a call and see what they have in stock.l'll also give Nolan a call who used to run NSR . I don't want one of the low profile foling roof pnes that Nene are advertising.

From memory,, that one i linked to above,, The seller used to import them ? I don't think he sold it ??

A few makes to choice from,, decent examples seam to make £8-£14k used, depending on make and extras fitted,, Nord star is meant to be one of the better manufactures

I also discounted the pop up roof jobbys California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Unfortunately Artica have ceased trading but there are alternatives.

A lot of the Jap 1Te Pickups are just not man enough for the job, VW Amorak is probably capable.

PM me if you want to know more.

Nice Rig Richard, I've had 5 Japanese 4x4's and liked them all but I prefer the Landrovers.

I've sent you a pm

Thanks again Richard It was great to speak to you regarding your experience with your 130Dc and the Demountable.
I will check the two links out tonight. If you are ever in our area and want a free pitch for the night give me a call.
We have a hook up point outside plus hot and cold water. Check out Wentworth Village on the tinterweb click on monuments we look after the Mausoleum and show people round from Spring Bank Holiday Sunday to the August Bank Holiday.
I can also take you up one of the other monuments Hoober Stand.

The problems with de-mountable campers are the lack of space inside, If you need a double cab, forget the 110. The 130 is better but you have to watch the overhang over the rear wheels if you go for a large one. I believe there is a maximum legal amount. It also severely hampers it off road with a lower departure angle. You will also need to keep an eye on the gross vehicle weight as the last 130 I did weighed in at nearly 4 tons almost empty. This had a huge engine driven generator and a shower in it.

Sadly I haven't got the enthusiasm to tackle a diy project. I converted an American school bus to s motor caravan in the 80's which I enjoyed doing. My wife is now going on about getting another motor home I know that she will win but I am going to hold out for a while longer. But the Landy stays she does agree on that.
