thats true but i dont think the service schedule effects the diff/shaft breakages most of ours that have gone have had less than 5k on them

Well yes and no - whilst at 5k they should be fine (mine isnt there yet!) if (as ive seen) there isnt enough oil in the transmission to begin with then your shafted (pun intended!) to being with.

I havent checked mine yet - i did notice the engine oil was at 1/2-3/4 on the dip stick, on here we have seen prop shaft grease nipples not fitted.

So my point is - if they arent checked properly at PDI (they arent) and they arent filled properly (ive seen this...must check mine) then when you get to use them off road its little wonder they are wearing.

At 2yrs (or the (12k for me)24k mileage) i will be asking the dealer to replenish all oils not just the engine.

you said service schedule not PDI though if you want to pick holes.

i was only giving my opinion from my experience with the new vehicle.

Im not picking holes or moaning at you mate

But I did mean service schedule though. Think of it like this, it is the point at which 90% of people would give the car TLC and a lower than normal oil is fine, until you abuse your defender then it NEEDS its fluids.
