Looks neat, also has a removable faceplate which is good for security.

Australia 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Fuji White
G'day guys,
I'm about to fit an amp and sub that I've had sitting in the shed for a while and I could really use some advice.
Firstly, I have a Pioneer HU DEH-8450BT running the OE rears and Focal splits in the front. I have a Pioneer 4Ch amp (model escapes me) that I want to install under my seat (all wiring removed - now houses a compressor), and a Pioneer 10" in a factory box that I'll put in the rear.
My issues surround the amp's placement and settings. Will it be okay in the seat box? Should I add ventilation somehow? Secondly, I'm finding the amp's instructions confusing. How do I allow for the splits when setting HP/BP? And am I right in thinking that I should just leave the rears running from the HU?
Cheers.

Are you talking about putting the Sub actually inside the seat box or mounted into the body of it?
It might sound somewhat compressed and I'm not sure you'll like the sensation very much. Shocked It'll be like sitting on top of a running engine. Confused

No, just the amp. I had been looking at something like Entreq's recessed tray for an active sub, but have steered away from that in favour of a larger passive sub in the load space. My concern now relates to the placement of the amp (which I've just confirmed is in fact an Alpine PDX V9, and not a Pioneer after all).

My Kenwood sub mounted on the back of the cubby works a treat!

I've spent a fair bit on Audio in my 110 and I've come to the conclusion it's not worth it really as the Engine/Gearbox/Wind/Road/General Clatter noises are just to much of interference and you can't get rid of them!

Just bought an LR90 that has a TD5 dash fitted. Looking to fit the unit below but as it doesn't have a removable fascia concerned about the security aspect?

Looks a decent unit as it seems to work the same as the set up in my Mrs Fiesta

Ive noy had chance to read all of this thread but was wondering where the best place is to fit the 4 speakers, i'm not in to subs/woofers and all that just a nice straightforward set uo

I doubt you will find any if I'm honest, only part numbers.
I can't remember what wattage the speakers are but that may be on the back of the speakers, same goes for the HU too.
It's only basic, and probably similar to most other aftermarket HU in power etc.
Power output on any HU is a grey area often just peak power noted not RMS.

The current XS comes with an Alpine 137BT I believe (I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong). Not sure about 2010 models though I'm afraid - I get the feeling it was a much more basic unit as custom90steve suggests.

Link to the Alpine unit:

As far as I am aware it was just an Aux in on the HU which was standard, on HT's etc it didn't even have that like my own until it changed.
I think it was 2012 the Alpines went in or there abouts, also the wiring changed away from being ISO which is very silly IMO!
One must assume that was purely a move to sell the LR branded audio / ICE pack at great expense for still a basic set up.
Just simply by trying to make the wiring more difficult to fit aftermarket into.
For those that have standard HU's or even the Alpine units I'd highly recommend you swap, there is much better out there!

Radio swap
We have a 2012 model 110 that has the standard Land Rover CD Player. If I was to upgrade to say the current model Alpine CDE-HD137BT with bluetooth, would it be a simple plug and play or will I need to buy some other bits?

Hopefully the new radio will be arriving today and I will find out what 'additional' ISO connector we need.
Can't wait to get it fitted so at least we have some sounds.

Just noticed your posts here, can't understand why on earth I missed your posts above or I'd have replied. Rolling Eyes

Anyone doing anything interesting with their set ups lately or anything planned?
Mines just in the sweet spot where I am extremely happy with it as is. Mr. Green
Maybe larger speakers one day to 13cm and Dynamatt maybe but other than that.
Other priorities on the go right now.
