What petrol motor would appeal to you?
With modern diesels now having cats & DPFs to worry about replacing, what petrol motor - for torque & low rev bhp, but sensible economy, would be good for a "Defender" replacement? Boxer over V, or inline? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

a 5.0 Supercharged V8 Defender would be nice... If i could afford the fuel Sad

i think diesels are just so much better than petrols now, i mean look at the new RRS 3.0tdv6 or the porche cayenne diesel etc, all brilliant. 300bhp+ is possible with 40+mpg in a full size SUV. the new BMW 535d can do 1000miles of a tank!

don't think I will ever own a petrol...

EDIT: they're starting to sound pretty good too, long gone (outside of the defender line) are the knock clattery diesels of old, the 3.0sdv6 in our D4 sounds brilliant at low revs, even makes a little turbo noise if you get it going full chat! averages 33mpg in a 2.7tonne vehicle too... Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

Look, I know it ain't gonna happen, but if I had my choice it'd be a V8, going further because it's sort of "O.E.", it'd be the 375KW RR S/C V8, but there's plenty of others.
Cheers, Pickles.

the noise of a v8 is what i love.. speaking of that, I'm supposed to give the other car a run this weekend but i doubt it will even get up the lane as this rain has turned it into a swamp
