130 Rear Bumper & Wheel Carrier
So I started on the Rear Bumper/Wheel carrier.

I got the Outback Extreme bumper from Damms 4x4 in Holland.

I ordered the bumper un treated as I will be modifying it to suit my requirements. It will then be galvanized and powder coated satin black.

The bumper has the facility to fit two wheel carriers, as a result when fitted the wheels/tyres block out the rear lights. To overcome this the bumper comes with the facility to locate a second set of lights.
However I only want to carry one wheel so my cunning plan is to move the carrier post closer to the centre of the vehicle thus exposing the standard lights. As a result the (old fashioned) bumper lights wont be required.

The bumper looks really good. Still considering one myself, but even without the wheel carrier they're not 'cheap'.

Can you please make more detailed pictures of the bumper, before painting.
Yesterday I he just moved home rear half body from 110HT to modiffy my 130 HCPU to station wagon. And last crossmember and rear part of 130 frame is one think, that will need bid modiffication to suit the new body. So every inspiration is welcomed at this time. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Hi Andrew

Is it an 110 bumper that you are going to modify? As I cannot see a 130 bumper on "Outback Extreme's" site.

As you can see the spare does cover the lights.

Rather than blank off the holes for the lights in the bumper I decided to fit some LED work lights (temp mock up)

As a precaution I thought I would weld in a 'swing shaft' stop. Clearly the swing shaft may not move or rotate when its tightened however it definitely wont now.

surely having the tyre there would be illegal?? I'm pretty sure your lights have to be 'clean and visible' or words to that effect?

looks really good though, monster of a defender that! Cheers, David
