They're going to make a "Landy"?

I wonder if anyone using the word "Landy" will be chased down by a pack of Gaydon based suits? 90XS Tdci John Eales

With "Land Rover" being removed from the bonnets and replaced with "Defender" and "Discovery" etc, I was beginning to wonder if whatever they're planned for the Defender replacement they would just call it the "Land Rover".

A chance to create what a Land Rover should be for the 21st century. So Landy is a bit odd, but might make sense.

'Land Rover has stopped me selling my books because it's busy clearing the market of unauthorised LR products. It plans to launch more of its own children's products.'

I work in intellectual property but this kind of thing makes me sick. Children's books for God's sake Evil or Very Mad
After Microsoft and Apple, another greedy company goes down the Censored hole...

p.s. they make children's products already, like the Evoque Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

It does seem a little heavy handed but I guess if you have gone through the cost of registering the name then you have interests to protect.

Seems odd if we are only talking about child products, I'd have thought lr had bigger plans for the name.

It is stuff like this, not to mention most of the current vehicle line up, which makes me as a Landrover enthusiast feel totally disconnected from the company. They have, sadly, become a bit of a faceless corporation in recent years. Am I the only one who remembers as well that they got into trouble a few years ago for hassling staff who had been off sick, by turning up at their houses etc, which is totally illegal? 2011 110 USW

To be fair I don't think lr have ever been that close to the enthusiast market. Look where their marketing money goes- polo, cowes week, horse trials, etc. Don't think I have seen a full HQ presence at any lr show I've been at over the last 30 years. Local dealer maybe but not the full factory effort.

Considering how much they trade on this heritage, that's a shame.

I could contrast with Lotus which since the advent of the Elise has plugged into the enthusiast scene really well. Even sending prototypes on weekend runs.

I think they used to be. In the old days they used to organise enthusiast trails. Look at the lauch of the 110, surrounded by enthusiasts in Series 1s and 2s. They used to organise Gaydon run which was always great fun. It is only in more recent years they seem to have lost interest. They do have a big stand at Eastnor but not really at the other shows from what I can see. 2011 110 USW
